A September football game at Hughes Stadium that will include several days of cultural activities and fundraising for literacy efforts has been announced. The game will pit players from Texas Southern University against Shaw University of North Carolina.

The two schools are expected to play at the Sacramento City College stadium on Sept. 13, organizers announced, in what will be called the Capital City Football Classic.

The event is designed to include several days of activities, including a spelling bee, a high school essay contest and an athletic awards luncheon. The game time has yet to be announced.

The two schools are among 114 historically black colleges and universities in the United States.
